The University of Gloucestershire has apparently improved its position in the first published University league table of the year.
The University claims on it’s own website it went up eight positions to 62nd place out of 115 universities in the Good University Guide published in the Independent newspaper.
The table takes into account a number of considered factors and has seen slight improvements in the areas of student satisfaction, entry standards, academic services spend and good honours degrees which has contributed to the universities increased position.
Executive director of external communications Paul Drake commented: “This is a pleasing result and whilst we should not measure our success only by league table position, it is reassuring that we are continuing to provide a positive student experience.”
According to the Complete University Guide website the university was 71st in 2010 and 58th and 73rd the two previous years. As the new guide is intended to represent the 2011 year the 2011 result will be the new 62nd. There are actually nine years between 71st and 62nd. The University of Gloucestershire has updated this on thier website.

Hi, the published complete University Guide is for 2011 as it is intended as a guide for applicants to the 2011/12 application cycle which starts in September. The University of Gloucestershire’s current position is 62. The 2010 position was 71 although 70 in the data provided to the University in advance of publication. We will amend our information to reflect a rise of 9 places rather than 8, so thank you for flagging this up.
Thanks, Tom at UoG
